Company Summary:
Family Business Distribution is a dynamic organization that designs, produces, markets and sells two leading young contemporary women’s fashion brands: www.gentlefawn.com and www.leftonhouston.com.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Execute the seasonal designs for Gentle Fawn and Left on Houston
- Analyze Development needs accordingly
- Daily Management of Product Development Team: Collection planning, develop salesman samples, guidelines for design team, follow up on designs/sampling/production/graphics, team structure and reviews
- Inspirational Sourcing/Development trip to Asia
Departmental Management
- Work alongside the Creative Director in formulating Budget and Forecast plans.
- Create seasonal product line plans, in consultation with the Creative Director and Sales Marketing Manager
- Responsible for leading the design and product development team to realize the plans within the set departmental objectives and timelines
- Regular Progress Reporting to the Creative Director
- Manage offshore Suppliers Timelines, enforcing company wide quality standards and on time delivery of all goods
- Participate in seasonal development and production fittings
Design Management
- Seasonal market research and development, applicable to the Gentle Fawn brand
- Work with the design team and Creative Director to determine seasonal themes
- Research and development and creation of seasonal color palettes
- Lead Design Assistant in sourcing seasonal fabrics and trims
- Merchandising and design
- Spec creation, sampling fittings and spec updates
Qualifications
- Graduation from a fashion design academy
- Min. 5 years related work experience from the fashion industry women's wear is a must
- Excellent understanding of garment construction is a must
- Experience dealing with offshore suppliers is an asset
- Business and commercial minded
- Good management skills
- Proactive thinker and a great problem solver who is comfortable dealing with issues as they arise
- Familiar with Illustrator CS3 / Microsoft Office
- Strong sense of fast moving trends targeting females aged 20-30
- Well-organized and focused
